James E. Karner received his first patent in 1980 for his
automotive cylinder deactivation system. As Project Manager
and Control Systems Engineer at White Storage and Retrieval
in San Diego, he helped design, build and install robotics
material handling systems.
He transitioned to food processing at Delimex, where he
designed and built the first automated taquito rollers. Three
patents were granted for his high speed deposit system.
As Engineering Manager of Amy's Kitchen in Santa Rosa, CA,
he implemented automation and process improvements that
enabled Amy's to more than triple its growth.
His focus as President of Automation Industries is to design
and build equipment that meets his own "wish list" of high
standards, and to provide his customers with the benefit of his
